VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Children at Sanctuary have the opportunity to learn woodworking, bicycle repair, sewing, and beautician skills. The program launched in 2014 from generous donors from HilfsTransporte & Waisenhilfe e.V. The apprenticeship centers are shared with the nearby Good Samaritan Mission, also located in Ocna-Mures.

Hair Salon: Many of the teens (both girls and boys) have learned this trade under the tutelage of Lidia Sfechis. The salon also provides free haircuts for the needy children that attend the feeding outreach operated by the Good Samaritan Mission.

Sewing Room: Also donated by friends in Denmark and Germany, the sewing room is full of ideas and supplies to create clothing and decorative items. Girls and boys are taught basic repairs to help maintain the large wardrobe required by 30 children of various ages.

Bicycle Repair Shop: Bicycles are an important mode of transportation in any small town. The teens have the opportunity to learn and work in the shop. Broken bicycles are repaired and often brought to the orphanage to be used by the children.

Woodworking Shop: The boys and girls from Casa Sanctuary are trained in the safe use of state-of-the art shop equipment provided by churches in Denmark and Germany. Through the years, they have made various items from decorative signs to small pieces of furniture.
